Our Work
In everything we do, our desire is to inspire others to learn to do good.
In Guatemala, we provide consistent and creative opportunities for our students to continue their learning regardless of their background so that they may be instrumental in the future good of their communities.
Through our Education Support Package program, we are currently able to offer the following programs:
-
In-person School
Daily classes for students Kindergarten - Grade 7 that include math, language, English, PE, social and physical sciences, art and technology. Special emphasis on removing barriers to education for children coming from challenging family backgrounds. Annual educational field trips and day camps also included.
-
Women's Programs
Various programs such as micro-business coaching and vocational workshops to support the mothers of our students who often bear the responsibility of earning income while caring for their families alone.
-
Family Sustainability
Creative projects to encourage the continuation of learning within the home and family context. During the pandemic, our Seeds of Hope program gave our students the resources and training needed to grow food gardens at home, which increased food security and family resilience.
-
Community Programs
Programs aimed at supporting the surrounding community, such as water purification services, internet cafe, EDUPAN bakery and annual medical/dental clinics. These also help generate self-sustainable income for our program.
Our Partners
We at EDUPAVI Canada strongly believe in including the voices of those who live in and understand the needs of the community before attempting to implement sustainable change.
Educando Para La Vida is our official service partner organization on the field in Guatemala. Recognizing the negative effect of school drop out rates in their community, a small group of people in the town of Zaragoza decided to do what they could to make a difference. Established in 1999, EPV has transformed from a simple tutoring service into a multi-program operation dedicated to enriching the lives of the children in Zaragoza and its surrounding rural communities. During the pandemic, they helped us adapt our program to best fit the needs of our students and their families as they faced unprecedentedly impossible barriers to education.
We are honoured to partner with a team that so deeply understands the heartbeat of the community.
