Newsletter #11: Exciting Summer Events!

July 3rd, 2021

Summer is upon us and with it, an exciting bunch of updates!

Firstly, the Bike-a-thon that was scheduled for June 27th was unfortunately cancelled out of an abundance of caution during the Heat Warning that happened this past weekend. However, we have a new Ride Date of Sunday, Sept 12th 2021! This means that registration has opened back up, so if you would like to join us, click HERE to register before Sept 5th.

We're also pleased to announce that the highly-anticipated 2nd Annual EDUPAVI Silent Auction will make its return on August 21st, 2021! Preparation for the online event is currently in full swing and we have an amazing Auction Committee that is working hard to provide you with a spectacular selection of items to bid on this year.

If you or a business you know are interested in participating in this year's auction as a featured donor, please reach out to jackie@edupavi.ca! Your auction item, brand, logo, photos and description will be displayed on both the auction website (which received over 1,700 page views from customers in the Lower Mainland last year) and the online catalogue (released one week before the event). Click HERE to see last year's catalogue and read about the meaningful impact of the event.

And last but not least, a fun update from Guatemala! This week, the children have been participating in a mini Health Fair focused on physical, mental and dental health. The children rotated through different stations, including:

  1. Physical Education: Promotion of health through physical exercise and education about exercise, led by our on-staff doctor, Dr. Tiffany Quan.

  2. Mental Health: Teachings from a psychologist about recognizing and processing different emotions, with special emphasis on the emotion of disgust and its relation to recognizing and experiencing instances of child abuse. Various exercises aimed at teaching about the importance of exercising the brain.

  3. Dental Health: Dental checkups by a local dentist for all the children, with education on dental hygiene and practices. A forum for parents was also held for them to be able to ask any dental health questions they had.

We are so grateful for the all the time and effort given by the whole team in Guatemala, and the continued support from our monthly donors who believe in the value of holistic education.

Thank you for reading! We can't wait for you to join us this summer.

Until next time,
Team EDUPAVI Canada
