Newsletter #6: Fundraisers & Family Stories!
Oct 1st, 2020
Hello again!
And just like that, we're heading into October! Despite the months passing by more quickly than our ability to say them out loud, we at EDUPAVI Canada are thankful for the exciting things going on all around us.
First of all, we just launched a MERCH SALE, which will be available for preorder for the next 10 days (Oct 1-10)! We are so excited to be able to offer comfy essentials that help spark conversation about our story and mission, and raise funds for our annual goal! We collaborated with a young local entrepreneur (Akonna), so we are thrilled that this event will help support small business in Vancouver as well. To see all the options and place your own order, click the button below!
We are also so excited to see our supporters get creative and put their efforts into hosting their own events for EDUPAVI! This Saturday morning, 15 riders will be cycling 50km to raise funds and awareness. If you would like to see the list of participants and contribute to their goal of $5000, please click HERE. Please pray for safety and good weather as the riders hit the road!
In Guatemala, the staff are working hard to try and keep as many students in school during this pandemic period as they can. As COVID-19 cases and uncertainty rise, more families are less motivated to commit their time to online schooling. However, our team continues to communicate with the families in our program by any means possible, and adapt their system to best fit the children's needs. A monthly food package is being distributed to families in need, and the Seeds of Hope project (that we mentioned in our last newsletter) has expanded from 7 to 61 participating families! Many families have expressed their thankfulness for not only the resources and education needed to build resilience through the cultivation their own food gardens, but also the chance to bond as a family over this shared goal. Please continue to pray for them as they head into their last semester of the school year!
One of the families that impacted our team the most and inspired us to start EDUPAVI Canada is the Yool Family. Some of you who have been supporting us for the past few years may remember Román and Dorcas, and even participated in our effort to provide them with a house! Click the button below to see how their family is doing now, and read an interview with the momma, Luisa.
Having this personal and direct connection to ongoing relationships with families like the Yool family allows us to see the impact we can make, and drives us to share our mission with as many people as possible. We plan to have a live meet-and-greet event in early November for our monthly donors, so that they will have an opportunity to interact with the people they are supporting, and so the team in Guatemala can get to know them as well! If you are not a monthly donor yet, but would like more info on either sponsorship or this event, please do not hesitate to reach out to info@edupavi.ca!
Thank you all for your continued support and interest in our story. We hope this fall season brings you much joy, fulfilment and opportunities for thankfulness!
Until next time,
Team EDUPAVI Canada
